Camera Suggestions Picking A Camera Body Key
We have had several posts and comments and emails about the camera I use. I have gone through the same frustrations that many of you have. I had a good $800, body and lense, non-digital camera and would get a good photo every now and then. I tried buying a flash, using a mono-pod to stabilize my camera, and even a tri-pod. No such luck.
Then fortunately I went to camera store and found someone that spent some time educating me. Bascially, he said the camera body and lense I was using was not good enough to capture images indoors. The settings were not available to take a clean action shot indoors. My camera was good enough to catch out door action photos, so I assumed it would work for indoors.
Basically, I was using a "Yugo" or a "Pinto" car and expecting it to run like a race car. He gave me some options to look into. I researched the prices and found the Ritz Camera store was about the same as others. Not the cheapest, but I figured they had spent time educating me so I would shop with them.
I did stray from them, when I was looking for studio lighting set. I called a store and asked if someone would teach me how to set it up. They said something to the effect of "We don't educate our customers how to use the equipment." Keep in mind this was about a $1,000 purchase. They could have explained to me how to set it up in about 5 minutes...I went back to the Ritz Camera store.
So the point of this blog posting, get to know a local camera store where you can go and ask questions. Then research what they tell you. Also, not all Ritz camera stores are created equally. I went to a small one and got some bad advice. They sold me some slow memory cards that did not work with what I was trying to do. I now only shop at the larger super center where the staff does not change too often been going there for about 4 years now
